The Texas "Lone Star Flag" was officially adopted on January 25, 1839, as the national flag of the Republic of Texas, designed by Dr. Charles B. Stewart. It features a blue vertical stripe (loyalty) with a white star, over white (purity) and red (bravery) horizontal stripes. It became the state flag in 1845.
