The 20th President of the U.S. was James A. Garfield. Garfield advocated agricultural technology, civil rights for African Americans, a bi-metal monetary system, and an educated electorate. Garfield was assassinated after 200 days of being in office. He was born on November 19, 1831 in Moreland Hills, Ohio and died on September 19, 1881.
