Court Appearance
The law requires that you appear in Court on your case on or before the date shown on your ticket unless you pay your fine before you are scheduled to appear. By signing the citation, you have promised to appear in court or to take some action by the date indicated. Failure to appear when required may result in additional charges being filed against you and a warrant being issued for your arrest.
Options for Handling Your Citation:
Option #1:
Plead No Contest or Guilty and pay the Fine:
A. By Credit Card:
Log on to
www.certifiedpayments.net and enter Bureau Code 1448404 or call toll free at 1-866-549-1010.
B. By Mail:
Your plea of "Guilty" or "No Contest" must be in writing by completing and mailing Plea Form. Mail the ticket and plea form, along with your check or money order (payable to Moulton Municipal Court) for full payment , to Moulton Municipal Court, P. O. Box 369, Moulton, TX 77975.
C. In Person:
Municipal court hours are Wednesdays from 2:00 – 6:00 p.m. to meet with the Judge. Payments may be made Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Cash, checks or money orders are accepted.
D. If unable to make immediate payment, you may request a 30-day extension to pay the fine in full. The request can be made either in person or by sending the Extension Form (pdf) to the clerk’s office, provided that you do so on or before the required appearance date on your citation. Only one extension will be allowed.
Option #2:
Request a Court Hearing:
A. In Person:
Municipal court office hours are Wednesdays from 2:00 – 6:00 p.m. to meet with Judge McIntosh. You will be given a future court date to appear. The Municipal Court Clerk may assist you Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
B. By Mail / Fax:
Your request for a court date must be in writing and must be received on or before your appearance date. A court date will be mailed to you.
C. Through an Attorney:
You have the right to retain your own attorney to represent you at your own expense.
Option #3:
Request Drivers Safety Course (DSC)
Complete and return "Sworn Request for Drivers Safety Course",along with a copy of your Texas drivers license, proof of insurance and payment of $109.10 (court costs and administrative fee). This request must be received on or before your appearance date. Mail or bring form with payment to Municipal Court.
Option #4:
Request Deferred Disposition (Probation):
This option is a privilege, not a right, and is offered solely by the discretion of the Court. Please note that if your citation is for a traffic offense for which Drivers Safety Course is an option, you should consider that option first. Complete and return "Sworn Request for Deferred Disposition", along with payment of special expense fee (amounts vary, contact Court for information). This request must be received on or before your appearance date. Mail or bring form with payment to Municipal Court.
